Goodbye, 2019: Hagar Vardimon

Updated: Dec 27, 2019

Hagar Vardimon of creative studio Happy Red Fish has a knack to make everything look interesting. Using vintage imagery, embroidery, splashes of colour and her unique collage style, the Amsterdam-based artist and designer has kept me inspired and wanting to make collage zines ever since my dear friend Mayur introduced me to her work. Here's her responses to the Goodbye, 2019 questionnaire:

The nicest thing you did for someone in 2019?

Bragging about would make it less nice ;)

The book that helped you the most in 2019?

A bit of a late discovery, but I enjoyed reading the books of Gretchen Rubin.

The song you heard on loop this year?

Any song by Jack Johnson

The film/TV show you fell head over heels in love with?

Abstract: The Art of Design on Netflix. I keep coming back to it again and again…

Your biggest accomplishment this year?

The amount of commissioned work I received this year!

Your big 2019 takeaway?

Show up and carry on, no matter how hard it gets sometimes…

Who are you creative crushing on lately?

Recently I discovered the very inspiring Bridget Watson Payne and the Faceless page on Instagram.

What’s your number one bucket list item for 2020?

To create and paint as much as possible.

Rate 2019 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being Totally Sucked.

Almost 9!

Thanks, Hagar! Have a lovely year ahead :)
