A poem for the ordinary by Amulya Divakar

Art by Henri Matisse

The walls ooze camaraderie today we speak of- staggering clotheslines, creaky wardrobes, sturdy windowsills, swaying curtains, leaky faucets. The books watch over us with tender concern, their frayed edges brimming with grace. The ceiling fan whirs in amusement, the furniture smiles in gentle silence. Here, now while the sky sighs in birdsongs, we recommit to the mundane.
