#IndiaAgainstCAA: Art to fight the system

Updated: Jul 5, 2021

It's been nothing short of powerful to hear the collective voice of India fighting against the inhumane, discriminatory Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, which amends the Citizenship Act of 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for religious minorities from the predominantly Muslim countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. It's been terrifying to watch the police brutality against peaceful protestors across India, and reading the news of the paramilitary forces killing protestors and non-protestors alike in the Northeast. The police brutality on students in Jamia Millia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University has been appalling, and any well-thinking human being will be against these atrocities.

Educate. Organise. Agitate has become the slogan of these protests, and it's heartening to see how many artists are coming forward to highlight the issue, and fight the system through thought-provoking comics and artworks.

Here's a compilation of all the Anti-CAA artworks I've found on Instagram:

If you have created any work against CAA/NRC and wish to share it, feel free to mail it in to thealiporepost@gmail.com. I will be updating this post everyday to create an extensive visual compendium, a testament of the power of art as a medium of change.
